A Giveaway!
Sorry for the late post. I know this was supposed to go up yesterday but life got in the way.

On March 22nd at 9PM PST I will pull a name from the comments below.
The lucky winner will receive:
A Signed Copy of *MISTRESS OF PLEASURE* by Delilah Marvelle (My dear friend and brainstorming buddy.)
A Signed Copy of *BEING WICKED*
A Signed Copy of *A RED HOT VALENTINE'S DAY*
A Signed Copy of *NAUGHTY BITS*
As well as a bag of Salted Caramels from the wonderful store Cacao
(a small chocolate shop in Portland... they serve wonderful hot
drinking chocolate spiced with cinnamon too. Stop by if you are in
town for that fantastic treat!)
And a Jimmy Jane LITTLE EMBER SET

I am currently working on a historical erotic set in the mid 19th century Cornwall England. I am having a tough time finding a name for my heroine that I feel truly fits her. Currently I am calling her Rachel.

Rachel has deep brown hair and hazel eyes that change color depending on what she wears. She is the daughter of a coachman, and a housekeeper. Her last name is Grey. Her personality is open, loving, and curious. She is following in her parent’s footsteps and longs to find for herself the deep committed love her parents share. She has a fear of small spaces, and a love for anything pink including a pair of deep pink boots she received as a hand me down gift from the daughter of her parents employer.

Other ideas I have had for her name are Alice, Elizabeth, Charlotte.
Please reply to this post with an idea for my heroine’s name. It can be one of the above... or something you think up!

Best of luck to you!
Hugs and kisses,
Lacy.

  1. I've always been fond of Elizabeth myself, but I'm a wee bit biased. ;)

Cecelia is another favorite of mine. It's a name that always seemed so sweet to me and... it's easy to picture Celia used as a shorter endearment (I think it sounds particularly nice when murmured lustily into upswept hair).

  2. I've always liked Sarah or Hannah.

  3. I like the name Anna Belle. It might be strange but I love it.

  4. You do not specify the country where this is taking place, or the ethnic background of the character.

This would help in determining a name that is both suitable for the personae, but also appropriate for the family history.

  5. Great Point, CharlieL... I just added that to the post!

Wonderful suggestions so far everyone! You have me pondering the possibilities.

    Lacy.

  6. I like all of those mentioned, as well as Amelia.
Names are tough..I often wonder how authors decide. Is it just random? Some related association? Looks pleasing on the page?
Good luck naming your new character.

  7. My vote is Eliza... :)

  8. It must be tough to think up names to fit characters. I will offer the suggestion of Emily. It was the one of your options of Charlotte that made me think of it and the Bronte sisters.

  9. Adwen

Welch orgin. The patron saint of sweethearts. Means white and blessed.

If you want a more English name I'd go with Adalee.

English with a combination of Ada meaning of the noble kind, and Lee which is a clearing or a meadow.

I've always had a crush on Ada Lovelace, the first hot geek girl.

  10. How about Lesley? Bonnie Lesley was much favored by Robert Burns, the Scottish National Poet whose 250th birthday was just celebrated on January 25th, 2009.

The name "Lesley" has British/Welsh origins and is the correct feminine spelling. Interestingly, the literal meaning is "From the gray fortress" and it denotes strength. Best of luck with your novel! :)

  11. I like Rachel,Rebecca,or for a bit of an odd one,Lierin.

  12. Hi Lacy, I like Elizabeth. How about Elise or Elsie? Apologies if I am totally not reflecting the proper origins etc. or something! I'm just on an "e" trend, I guess :)
